Important Update on U.S. Tariffs, Customs Clearance, and Shipping Fees

Just wanted to provide you with the latest update on U.S. trade and customs rules that affect your BIOM8 orders.

Current Tariff Situation

• As of August 1, 2025, the U.S. increased tariffs on most goods imported from Canada to 35%.

• Under the CUSMA/USMCA agreement, products of Canadian origin are exempt from these tariffs.

• Since BIOM8 formulations are manufactured in Canada and qualify under CUSMA, you will not be charged the 35% tariff on these products.

Changes Effective August 29, 2025

• The U.S. suspended the “de minimis” threshold (previously US$800).

• All shipments, regardless of value, now require formal customs clearance.

• Even small, low-value orders must now be processed through customs.

Customs Clearance Fees

• Postal carriers now apply a $1.99 brokerage/remittance fee per shipment to cover customs documentation and clearance.

• This charge is handled directly by the carrier during clearance and does not appear at checkout.

• Some shipments may take slightly longer due to the added customs step.

DHL Shipments

• DHL shipments include the required paperwork certifying Canadian origin under CUSMA.

• There is still uncertainty about whether DHL applies additional clearance fees.

• In some cases, DHL may attempt to collect extra fees at the time of delivery.

What This Means for You

• ✅ No 35% tariff on BIOM8 products.

• ⚠️ $1.99 carrier fee may apply to postal shipments.

• ⚠️ Possible clearance fees for DHL shipments, depending on their final process.

• 📦 Shipments may take slightly longer due to new customs procedures.
